About Me

Garrett McDowell spent much of his childhood watching movies. From a young age, he was obsessed with the silver screen.

In 2015, Garrett began his YouTube channel where he discussed new-release movies and first learned his love of talking about movies in front of a camera.

Then, in 2017, Garrett traveled to Los Angeles for the first time at the age of 16 where he first began networking to learn the skills necessary to earn his dream job of becoming a film journalist.

He began his journalism career at Indiana Wesleyan University where he became a staff writer for his school newspaper, GrantCOnnected. It is here where Garrett quickly went up the ranks at the paper and soon became a Features Editor.

During this time, he gained experience at his university's radio station as a disc jockey where he hosted one-hour radio shows twice a week.

In 2019, Garrett traveled to the SXSW Film Festival to gain experience, network, and learn about how a journalist covers a film festival.

Then, during his senior year, Garrett created a series of articles examining movie reviews in their relation to the film industry. This process led him to interview world-renowned film critic and historian, Leonard Maltin.

Following this, Garrett obtained an internship with The Chronicle-Tribune where he attended SXSW once again and published several articles regarding the event including reviews and numerous interviews.
